GANAKO PRIMARY SCHOOL

GANAKO PRIMARY SCHOOL

While traveling in Tanzania in early 2019, our founder was introduced to the Ganako Primary School . A school for nearly 500 students, ages 5 to 13, taught by 17 teachers, these children walk or cycle up to 12 km each way daily to gain access to their ticket to a promising future: an education.

The school was in great need of a kitchen. The wooden shack which previously served as a makeshift kitchen was blown away by strong winds so the staff now prepare the limited food they can in the open.

Our goal was to donate the needed funds to build and equip a new kitchen providing the students with nutrition and nourishment as they pursue their goals of education and growth.

We are proud to report that Gigi Cares fully funded the entire project by using a portion of Gigi Seasons profits, and additional cash donations from Gigi Seasons and friends. The fully equipped kitchen is now complete and used daily to nourish, feed and love the children of Ganako.

The Land and Life Foundation works towards a sustainable future where communities and wildlife thrive together across conservation areas, safeguarding nature for the next generation. They support schools near key conservation areas in Kenya and Tanzania by raising funds for their development priorities and providing school supplies.

Summer 2020 Update: The project was fully funded by Gigi Cares: Projects for Humanity! As of summer 2020, construction of the new kitchen building is nearly complete and Ganako Primary School is awaiting installation of the kitchen equipment - all fully funded by Gigi Cares and our supporters.

Fall 2020 Update: Gigi Cares is proud to have fully funded and equipped a new kitchen building for the Ganako Primary School in Tanzania. Here are the latest photos of the progress, along with some of the excited students.

March 2021 Update:

The Ganako Primary School kitchen is officially open! This new kitchen helps ensure that over 500+ students will be nourished, fed, and loved. The teachers and students celebrated the opening with some cake and laughter. A big thank you to all our friends, family, and supporters for being a part of this. As this project is complete, we look forward to doing so much more good.
